Self Taught
Based in South West London, Amfo is a self-taught musician. Patrick “Amfo” Junior, known for his stage name “Self-Taught” or “Amfo” was born in 2nd January 1990 in a small town called Waltham Cross. Amfo grew up in a disadvantaged family and growing, he used to go to the town’s theatre to clean up and make extra money after school to pursue his only goal of becoming a musician and getting his family out of modern poverty. He attended a state school called Waltham State Achool and dropped out of it when he was 15. Amfo wasn't very academic.
Amfo came to realise his dream coming true when he was around 15 when the director of the record label “Big Beat” decided to give him an opportunity after seeing him p
erform at the town’s shopping centre. Since then, his life has transformed and now he has his first single called ‘Runaway’ which is coming out in march 2015. This will be the first single for this newly promising artist and the genre of his music is EDM (electronic dance music). This is inspired by Amfo's herritage as his parents have migrated from Ghana a year before his birth in 1992.
The future holds a lot for this young upcoming artist and as was said by his collegues at the record company, his first song is looking good enough to hit number one globally. "This is good as it gets" were the words of the suprstar musician Avicii who met Self-taught through the record label.
